target audience: a particular group at which a product such as a film or advertisement is aimed
this would be dependant on the genre for example if I was making an animated film and aimed it at children I would bring in elements of comedy, bright colours, unexplainable, the bizarre and many more due to children being very imaginative you need to appeal to this side of them.
if it was a horror for example this would be aimed at more mature viewers and you would want to have an element of darkness and sinister themes running throughout the sequence.
this is an advertisement for the horror sinister 2 it would appeal to audiences that like a thrill and a fright, it would also be more of a supernatural horror and revolves around the corruption of children's innocence, which may appeal to the older and more mature generation .
whereas when children are the target audience it will look more like this.
Scooby-doo trailer 2002, we see elements of mystery answered by comedy. like the burp in the trailer, how two idiots can idiotically make everything better which appeals to children and the fact that Scooby-doo can talk also would appeal too a much younger audience.
